3 Bedroom House Let Agreed
Tucked away discreetly down a cobbled street lies 4 elegant, loft styled, mews houses in the East Ends original silk weavers district.
Sandwiched between Shoreditch High Street and Bethnal Green these three storey, new build homes are sophisticated finished with no expense spared, in the pursuit of contemporary warehouse artistry. The attention to detail and quality of materials used make this boutique collection truly unique.
From the central foyer, a scenic backdrop is created with white oak timber flooring and vertical granite railings that accompany a floating staircase. Floor to ceiling, framed glass segments of wall in the kitchen/ dining and reception room enable light to cascade throughout the property, while exposed brick walls and crittall style screens and doors, add texture and enhance the sense of warehouse living.
There are two terraces, one to the front of the house off the reception room and another to the rear on the top floor. The sleek kitchen is fitted with Blaupunkt appliances and black Terrazzo stone worktop. Japanese Shou sugi ban charred timber adds a sense of tranquility to the bedroom walls and built-in wardrobes. The two bathrooms are finished in Italian white Terrazzo stone, accented with matt black fittings. The house also features Sonos ceiling speakers and underfloor heating throughout.
In the late 17th century, in order to escape religious persecution under King Louis XIV of France, up to 700,000 Protestant Huguenots came to England, calling their journey Le Refuge. The majority settled in the East End, making it the centre for weaving and crafts.
Weavers Fields, situated just a street behind the development, is the largest park in Bethnal Green, it has three full-size football pitches, a woodland walk and plenty of open spaces.
Originally occupied by weaver’s cottages, Weavers Fields was central to the Huguenot silk weaving industry. However, after the Second World War these buildings were demolished to make way for the Weavers Fields Park. The sculpture, Weaving Identities, by Peter Dunn can be found at the centre of the park, commemorating them.
